The Detroit River Delisting & Information System (DRDIS) is an online information management system and data repository that is an important resource for managing and delisting the Detroit River Area of Concern (AOC) which was officially designated as one of 43 Great Lakes' AOCs in 1987.
Key features of DRDIS include information storage and management, full site searching, protected access to information, and uploading / downloading of resources in one convenient location. The DRDIS is designed to manage Detroit River Canadian Cleanup 's (DRCC) corporate knowledge and to house all of the supporting documents for the locally-driven remedial action plans (RAPs) making all aspects of delisting and management function efficiently and transparently. The DRDIS is a critical aspect of the DRCC's corporate memory and decision-making process. It is anticipated that the DRDIS will become an official source and a "one stop shop" for Detroit River and RAP information--from policy documents to research articles.
The DRDIS is hosted through a partnership with Connecting Windsor-Essex and the Centre for Smart Community Innovation located at the University of Windsor where researchers can benefit from additional access using ORION and CANARIE research networks.
The Detroit River Canadian Cleanup initiative is partnership between the federal, provincial, and municipal governments, industry, academics, non-government organizations, and concerned citizens. Partnerships within the DRCC aim to promote and implement the Remedial Action Plan to restore beneficial uses with the ultimate goal of removing the Detroit River from the list of Great Lakes Areas of Concern.
